PRAYER TO COYOLXAUHQUI

Powerful Warrior and Lunar Mother,
You, who were beheaded by your brother, the Sun,
Protect us!
Let their manly hands,
fathers, brothers, men all,
no longer mark our skins from infancy.
Let their hunter sparrowhawk claws
no longer tear our breasts.
Let their patriarchal and corrupted governments
no longer discard our bodies.
Help us restrain them with no violence!
Let them not manage to subdue us, rape us, prostitute us;
reducing us to be only objects for their entertainment.
Inspiring Moon, compassionate Mother,
Teach us to love us amongst ourselves!
Empower us to stop being cowardly accomplices.
Transform us into wise restrainers!
Never more for power or reaffirmation!
Never more for entertainment or treason!
Never more for revenge or perversion!
Let their hands caress our skins,
and obliging, travel body and soul.
Only for love, Mother! Only with love!
